Cub Scouts - Exploring the Australian Outdoors

Cub Scouts is the second Section of Scouts and caters for boys and girls aged 8 - 11. It focuses on exploring the outdoors and living an active lifestyle in a safe and friendly environment. Cubs are introduced to traditional Scouting skills such as tying knots and using a map and compass, and take part in outdoor adventures such as camping, rock climbing, abseiling, bushwalking, sailing, gliding and flying, canoeing, and billy-karting!

Cub Scout also learn valuable life skills such as leadership and taking responsibility for themselves. They are taught the value of citizenship and how to give back to their communities. Each Cub Scout collects special badges to demonstrate their skills and achievements, and has the opportunity to achieve their Grey Wolf Award before moving onto the Scout section.

About Our Cub Pack

At Dural our Cub Pack meets Wednesdays from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. There is a simple standard opening and closing ceremony where the Cubs salute the flag and remember their promise, law and motto.
Basic Information
Our cub pack has up to 24 members at any given time and is open to both males and females. All of the activities are tailored to be suitable for the age, development and social competence of our youth members. Cub scouts have a lot of fun! This fun encourages our members to help each other and to try help other people too. Each week your child will get together with other boys and girls their age and be led into adventure!

Why Join Cubs?
Cub Scouts get to not only enjoy traditional scouting skills (think knot tying, using a map and compass), outdoor adventures such as camping and abseiling but also valuable life skills. Cub scouts are able to learn about leadership, how to take responsibility and how they might give back to their community all while having fun in a supervised environment.

Some of the things you can expect your child to learn about during their time in this section include:
  1. Natural environments
  2. Their Local environment
  3. Creativity
  4. Health and First aid
  5. Responsibility for self
  6. Leadership and Teamwork
