What an action packed night our Cubs had tonight, as a combined meeting with Dural Joeys. Kenthurst Rotary Club in partnership with Digicel PNG, is collecting books to stock school libraries built by Digicel all over Papua New Guinea. They have built 21 school libraries. At the moment, they have no books and that is where our Joeys helped out. The picture below is one of the libraries built by Digicel. Most of the schools in Papua New Guinea do not have a library. Some do have a library but just a handful of books, very old and torn or in some cases no books at all. We donated dictionaries, atlases, early readers and non-fiction that were suitable for children from ages 6 to 17. We also made seed bells to help feed our hungry native birdlife during winter.
And last but not least, we participated in Plant Ark's National Plant a Tree Day, by planting several new native trees outside the front of the hall.
